A little late but..

Since I wasn't able to make it to class Wednesday, I wanted to just share my feelings on the movie we watched on Monday. I had of course learned a little bit about the attempt to force Native Americans to assimilate,but there's just something different about hearing about it firsthand from someone who was actually involved. What was done to Native Americans in those boarding schools absolutely horrifies me. I just will never be able to wrap my mind around how a group of people can have the audacity to tell another group that who they are is "wrong." Racial discrimination just strikes a special chord with me because my mother is from Colombia, and I could never imagine someone wanting to inflict any harm on her simply because of the fact that she was different.
